Smoke Alarm Program

Cassville Fire Protection District offers free smoke alarms and installation to anyone who lives within our fire district.

Smoke Alarm Tips

  • Install smoke alarms in every sleeping room, as well as outside each sleeping area

  • Larger homes may need extra alarms

  • Test your smoke alarms at least once a month.

  • When a smoke alarm sounds, go outside and stay outside

  • Replace all smoke alarms in your home every 10 years

Facts about smoke alarms

  • In 2012-2016, smoke alarms sounded in more then 53% of the home fires

  •  Almost three out of every five fire related deaths resulted from fires in homes without smoke alarms or working smoke alarms

  • Dead batteries cause 25% of smoke alarm failures

We recommend changing the batteries in your smoke alarms twice a year. The recommended time to do so is during daylight savings time. When you change your clocks, also change your smoke alarm batteries.
